Parque Ignacio Agramonte, Derbyshire Cuba Network visitors and Cuban friends350 miles south east from Havana, Camagüey has a population of around 279,000 people. Ignacio Agramonte is seen by many Camagüeyanos as the hero of their city. Notice the Royal Palm (the National Tree of Cuba) seen between the flagstaff and the stone momument. Together with three more trees at the other corners of Parque Agramonte it forms a living monument to four previous independence fighters who were executed by the Spanish Authority. The Authority did not know what was happening when women of Camagüey soon after that planted four trees to honour the patriots' sacrifice.
