Derbyshire Cuba Network, Cuba and why we support it.
Derbyshire Cuba Network members include teachers, doctors, railway workers, retired people and local politicians. It is based on respect, co-operation and friendship. These attributes are also at the heart of our relationship with the people and institutions of Cuba. The two pictures are intended to emphasise that the members of Derbyshire Cuba Network (DCN) believe the work they are doing is important. Without Cuba maintaining its self-determination and national sovereignty the future of the younger people such as those pictured is under threat - Cuba has by far the highest standard of literacy in Latin-America and by far the lowest infant mortality rate in Latin-America. The latter in fact is lower than that of the United States of America. Cuba has sent 1400 doctors to Pakistan to help the people there recover from the recent earthquake in Kashmir. And in Cuba this report In these pages are presented some impressions of Cuba and the range of activities of DCN and its individual members as they work for the defence of Cuba and its peoples' right to self-determination and national sovereignty. The pages are the initial ones and there will be more content soon. | ||||||
