BicitaxisThe bicitaxi is a common site in the centre of Ciudad Camagüey because the area of the city is flat and there are obvious benefits in using such a vehicle. The streets in the centre are very narrow and the streets would probably jam-up solid if all taxis were of the car type! There now exists a regular fleet of the Santa María vehicles, more than 50 in number, decorated by different Camagüey artists. This photograph was taken in February 2005 in La Plaza de Trabajadores and you can see that despite Cuba being a tropical country there are seasons and the tree had yet to get its new set of leaves. But it was clearly a very pleasant state of the weather then! Popular concerts are put on at the permanent stage also located there. There is a bicitaxi rank at the plaza - also located at the plaza is a bank, a church, the base of the Artistas y Artesanos de Cuba Asociación - AACA.
